Reverend Herman Alston Jr. has been pastor of the Macedonia Baptist Church since 1992. He has been a teacher in the Rochester School District for 32 years. Born in Jamaica Queens, New York to Herman and Lillian Alston on December 20, 1950. Reverend Alston is the oldest son of four. Two boys and two girls. Reverend Alston is married to Cheryl Alston, and has four children and four grand children.

  • Attended St. Paul College in Virginia and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.

  • Received his Masters degree in Educational Administration from Brockport State College.

  • Certificate of Pastoral Ministry from Houghton College.

  • Billy Graham School of Evangelism Certificate from Atlanta, GA.

  • Reverend Alston has received numerous awards and recognition:
  • Voted Teacher of the Month by the New York State Department of Education.

  • First Mission Commander to the Challenger Space Science Education Center - NASA.

  • Received the Dr. Martin Luther Jr. Award for Outstanding Educator from the Ebony Culture Club.

  • Received the Eastman Kodak’s Science Teacher of the Year Award.

  • Received the Dedicated Meritorious Service Award from the Great Lakes Baptist Association through the Layman.
